My life through hoops has two major themes. Insight, and Inspiration. These are clear from the very first chapter. The rest of the book steadily flows through supporting these themes.
I found interesting how Elena was traveling and performing so often, between shows on breaks, etc. at such a young age. Furthering her education, and growing into a young woman while managing a full time performing career. All while possessing the tenacity to thrive in an adult oriented environment.
The message of this book can apply to anyone who may need some inspiration in any aspect of life. The lessons and values can be applied anywhere, not just hula hooping. All while learning a little Elena Lev history.

As a performer myself, I’ve always been mesmerized and fascinated with Elena Lev. I wondered how she came to be and how her life is. Her book is a peek into the circus life, and it makes me feel like I can relate to her much more because of the realities of a performer’s life – from her beginnings, her peak, the challenges, inner struggles, thoughts, and even seeing what’s next for her in her life. Thank you Elena for sharing your story to the world! Truly an inspiration inside and out.

This book is the perfect portrait and documentation of the amazing journey of such an original and influential artist! I discovered Elena’s work when I was a teenager and began training myself by watching videos of her performances. She has been an incredible example of mental as well as physical strength for me, and her influence and the hoops got me through a difficult time in my life and helped me find strength in myself. It is so special to have such personal and beautifully detailed insight into the world and life of someone who has inspired me so much. She has been a mentor and teacher to me for the past decade without even knowing, and it was such a comfort and privilege to read this perfect, well-organized and carefully crafted autobiography. It is full of interesting detail and insight into the world and unique lifestyle of Cirque as well as sprinkles of wisdom and beautiful, sentimental, real moments. It is so real and a very easy read and true to her original voice. I’m inspired by her strength in everything she’s overcome, and how well she has adapted and risen to every challenge with such discipline, hard work, and determination, which is what has made her the best at what she does. She will always be the one and only queen and pioneer of the hoops act!

This book has been an inspiration to read, and had fill me with joy and reassurance to go chase my dreams. I totally recommend this book to everyone who has big dreams and aspirations to be part of not only Cirque Du Soleil but any dance company, theater, show or production. Elena Lev is a living example of what hard work, dedication and persistence is.
